SIDESTORY - CHAPTER 3.2
"I'm of mixed blood. I'm sure you have more beautiful eyes than I have,” Eunseol exclaimed.
The emperor, Yoon, laughed silently at her stark answer.
“I was curious from the beginning because they tied you up so that you couldn’t even step out of the manor. It’s the first time Haewoon has been obsessed with something.”
Yoon frowned as if he didn't like it.
Her eyes were a unique color and looking around she didn't think she was very beautiful. It was incomparable at first with the flowers of the Imperial Palace. Like the Yeoncheon Palace garden, he could only think of his flowers that emitted fragrance and were not entangled with bugs, making him laugh.
“I was unnerved and could not get out of the manor."
"Oh my god," Yoon exclaimed as he shook his head a little.
I know you’ve been living on the battlefield since your birth but you were unnerved? If someone heard, they would yell, “Are you trying to deceive the emperor?” What kind of expression would Haewoon make if I lock this woman up in an underground prison?
As he became curious about such a thing, Yoon licked his lips with the tip of his tongue. "Then will you come often?"
"What?"
It was a felony to ask back at the emperor. However, Yoon didn't blame her and gave her a gentle tip.
He felt terrible, looking at her deep blue eyes. He stared at Eunseol’s face and slowly drew his look down further and further. Her bulging stomach tells him that she is pregnant.
"No, it's good to stay in the palace until Haewoon arrives."
"The manor is comfortable for me. My husband will be there soon."
It has been a long time since he’d seen someone oppose an emperor’s request so Yoon laughed with joy.
"Even if I had the royal physician examine you? My concubines take it with great honor. How do you like it? It will honor him. "
"I'm fine."
“Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep soundly if something happened to Haewoon’s child.”
Eunseol’s eyes widened to that nonsense. Only then did Yoon feel satisfied as her half-covered eyes were revealed. It tickled his heart.
Everything in Haewoon’s manor was tricky, so it wouldn’t do him any good if he had gone there himself. That’s why he had called her to the Imperial Palace instead. He was curious about her reaction, but now he was satisfied with the conversation alone.
Where did Haewoon find something special like her?
"Your Majesty, you're going too far."
“Come and be my concubine. I would even recognize the child in your womb as my child."
Eunseol swallowed, her throat dry. The scorching sun made her feel dizzy and light headed. “...... I’m carrying the general’s child.”
"No matter how powerful a family is, a prince is better than a son of a general. I haven't even decided on a successor yet. Would you refuse to give your child a chance to compete equally with the other princes? "
"If I refuse, what will happen?" Eunseol asked without hesitation.
He blatantly pressed the tip of her chin and lifted it up. “If it’s Haewoon, would you come without hesitation?”
“Yes.”
"You're pretty blunt,” he answered curiously, but Eun-seol was shaking. Yoon, who was holding Eunseol's chin, couldn't help but notice the tremor.
"That's stupid, as you say. So be my concubine before I touch him. "
"That's impossible."
"There's no one here to protect you from me, what if I force you."
“The general won’t blame me for what happens if it was an inevitable incident.”
“You mean you’re going to fight with my husband anyway.”
Yoon withdrew his hand as if he had lost interest. Eunseol's head turned toward the floor again.
"I'll be waiting for you to change your mind. Stay here as the court lady said. You can walk anywhere in Yeoncheon Palace."
It was imperative that she walked freely through the emperor’s private space. For the emperor to do this kind of favor for her meant the price she had to pay was to enter as a concubine.
Eunseol didn't waver at all. First of all, it was an absurd proposition.
"... I am grateful."
