SIDESTORY - CHAPTER 4.1
Eunseol suddenly fell asleep. Ever since she was with child, she would be tired even if she did a little or if she overdid it. Unable to lie down on the emperor’s bed, she lay down at the table and closed her eyes.
In her dream, her grandfather who had already passed away, appeared. She called out to him loudy, but no voice came out.
You have to live well.
Holding her grandfather’s hand who repeatedly said, “You have to live well well”, Eunseol cried out loud. He had never appeared in her dreams. She burst into tears and told him she was scared all the time after his death. Her grandfather who had always protected her knew something was off and he smiled with a wrinkled face.
"...Wake up. Wake up."
Eunseol's eyes lit up as she called to her Grandpa's back as he turned his back and left.
Obviously she was sitting in front of the table and fell asleep, but she was now laying on the bed. It was the emperor himself who shook her while sitting on his bed at dusk.
"What kind of dream are you crying about?"
“..... Your Majesty.”
Eunseol let out a cracked voice. As soon as she opened his eyes, the emperor looked at the tears flowing down the corners of her eyes with strange eyes in the dark.
"Who's Mr. Joo?"
“He is my grandfather, who raised me since I was young.”
“Ah, I heard you grew up on the battlefield, then the battlefield raised you. I guess the food I gave was the staple food, so I ended up raising you. "
What the emperor said was far fetched.
When Eunseol didn't answer, the emperor smiled and ruffled her hair, wet with cold sweat. Watching Eun-seol narrow her shoulders in an instant as if she didn't even want to be touched, he spoke slowly.
"This. I thought it would take three more days.”
He said that in an instant and his lips twitched into a smile. At the same time, the door to the bedroom opened violently.
BAM!
No one blocked Haewoon on his way there. That must have been an order from the emperor.
The emperor slowly took his hand away from Eunseol.
Haewoon knew the people from Yeoncheon Palace well. Even if it was the emperor’s order or if it was somebody else’s, nobody could have stopped him.
"Teacher." The emperor smiled brightly and stood up. He opened his arms to greet Haewoon. “Why did you come in such a hurry?”
The emperor spoke to Haewoon as if he was the greatest man in the palace.
“The place where you sent your teacher was not a place of bloody battles.”
At that moment, Eunseol escaped from the emperor. With an expressionless face, she ran towards Haewoon, which was striding in. He reached out and tried to stop her before she jumped into my arms.
"It's dirty with blood on it."
Without hesitation, Eunseol grabbed his hand and crawled into his arms. She could smell the blood. It didn't matter because she had been used to it since she was young. However, she was deeply relieved that Haewoon came before nightfall.
"Did you get hurt?" Only then did Eunseol finally come to her senses. She trembled in fear as bright red blood dripped from his hands.
"I ordered them to protect my wife no matter what but they couldn't so I had to cut their throat,” Haewoon said bluntly.
He had cut the throat of one of the escorts from the Manor outside the palace. The emperor had no regard for him. Eunseol took a deep breath at his silent way of saying that he had cut out what was unnecessary. He showed such a cruel sexual point once in a while.
"There was nothing I could do about it. They could have escorted you here and not abandoned you, they were asking for it.”
Eunseol was apologetic but she had no choice but to keep her mouth shut as she asked them to go back to the manor instead of protecting her and attaching them with her. She hugged Haewoon and said nothing.
“Don’t tell me you’ve touched my wife?”
The emperor approached them with a smile. He had called Eunseol, his teacher’s wife, and was friendly.
"Wait a minute."
Haewoon lifted Eunseol and sat her on the table. He put her hands up to cover her eyes.
“Stay like this, it’s not gonna take long.”
Eunseol covered her eyes with her hands and nodded. She was calling out for her grandfather in her dreams but Haewoon came. Was that a sign of something good?
She wasn’t even afraid of the emperor anymore. The fact that Haewoon was there alone could calm her anxiety.
