SIDESTORY - CHAPTER 15

After hearing that the General’s wife had the same blue eyes as his mother, Kang Yoon, the 14th prince, knew why Seolhee looked like that.
His mother was a princess from Giran but her name was forgotten shortly after giving birth to him. The emperor adopted another Empress, and the young 14th prince was also forgotten.
There were so many princes in the Imperial Palace that it was impossible to count them all with two hands. So were the princesses. Among them, there were only a few that did not have a mother, and as long as they did not have a mother, they had no choice but to be pushed to the back of the power.
Kang Yoon, who sometimes cried while looking at his Mom’s portrait, was humiliated and kicked out by the first prince, Son Yu, as he went to the imperial palace today because it was the day he was learning swordsmanship. He felt like crying when he saw his servants waiting outside the hall, so he hid in the warehouse where no one went.
Kang Yoon, who is 6 years old this year, sniffed.
“May I wipe your tears?” Seol-hee asked carefully. It’s because a boy with the same eyes as her cried, she felt pitiful and indifferent without even realizing it.
“Oh, I didn’t cry.”
Kang Yoon bowed his head and sniffed. Seol-hee approached him and squatted in front of him at eye level.
“Yes. What I saw was after you cried.”
“I didn’t cry.”
Seol-hee carefully stole a look around Kang Yoon’s eyes and wiped it, not paying attention to her sleeves getting dirty. When she was young, she was also a crybaby, so she knew how soft her eyes were at times like this, and how painful it would be if she rubbed hard.
“Tha-Thank you…”
The prince, who had been pushed out of the power struggle, didn’t even have a servant that took care of him. It was the first time he remembered someone wiping his face so anxiously.
“Why did you cry?”
“I don’t want to say it.” Kang Yoon bowed his head sullenly.
Would this be how it would feel if she had a younger brother? Seol-hee begged Eunseol to let her have a younger brother. She was so happy when she heard that she will finally be having a younger brother.
“Is it something I can’t listen to?”
“I want to learn swordsmanship… I want to become great like my father, buy my brothers…”
Kang Yoon took a quick breath, held his breath, and then burst into tears again. Seol-hee remembered Son Yu, whom she had seen at the hall.
“Then come with us in the manor to learn.
“In the great general’s manor?”
“Yes. I also learned swordsmanship from my mother there.”
“Woah, do you mean that women also practice swordsmanship?”
“I will probably do better than the prince.”
