SIDESTORY - CHAPTER 16

“I will probably do better than the prince,” Seol-hee answered with a broad smile.

Her mother had taught her swordsmanship. Eunseol had directly taught her when she started running around saying that she should be able to protect herself in any situation. After having a second child, her father had taken over in teaching her so she would not neglect her training. So, the most interesting place for Seolhee in the Imperial Palace is the training hall.

“Then can you teach me?” Kang Yoon asked cautiously.

Seolhee liked this little prince. He was a prince and was not overbearing, and he carefully asked.

The princess and princesses, who were overly kind to her, felt uncomfortable to her, but strangely, maybe because they had the same eye color, but she did feel uncomfortable with Kang Yoon.

“There are  a lot of uncles who are better at swordsmanship than me, so the prince will soon be able to improve your swordsmanship.”

“But if I need to go outside, I’ll need father’s permission…”

“Are you talking about His Majesty the Emperor?”

“The only time that I will be able to talk to Father will be at the New Year banquet, I have to do it myself…”

Since he had never been alone with the emperor, Kang Yoon already felt tense just thinking about it, and his voice became smaller.

Why was Kang Yoon afraid of the emperor who was gentle towards her, even though he was his father? Young Seol-hee did not understand.

“Then, shall I tell the Emperor?”

“How?”

“May I hold your hand, prince?”

Kang Yoon nodded his head slightly. Then Seol-hee got up from her seat and clasped his hands tightly. Kang Yoon, who was smaller than Seol-hee, looked up to her.

“Where are we going?”

“We’ll go to the emperor.”

“Ah, you have to ask for an audience first. I can’t go.”

Kang Yoon went to the sidelines while crying and stood there, fearing that he might be chased away.

“Don’t you want to learn swordsmanship quickly?”

“I want to learn!”

“Then we need to get permission quickly.”

Emperor’s Palace

Kang Yoon’s heart raced. He walked with Seol-hee, who was holding his hand tightly.

No matter how ignorant he was, Kang Yoon was not unaware of Seol-hee, a famous person in the Imperial Palace. His father, who was fair and determined to all the princes and princesses, only allowed Seol-hee to sit on his lap and said that he was happy. He thought he would never meet her in his lifetime, but they were now holding hands and walking together like this.
