SIDESTORY - CHAPTER 2.1

In a barren sky with sizzling heat, a hawk roared and wept vigorously to find its owner.

A thin hand came out of the carriage’s window, wrapped in several layers of cloth to block the sun. A thin voice came out from it.

"Is there a dead body there?"

Haewoon looked at the blue eyes that resembled Eunseol’s without emotion. The eyes that resembled the sky where the hawk revolved were the same but there wasn’t much excitement there.

This is Jeon Seo-woong.

Princess Jeon of the Kingdom of Giran blinked. When a man named General Geummun of the Baekhwangguk came to the border to escort her, she even forgot that he had cut down countless generals in her country. He was such a beautiful and strong man.

"What is going on....?”

“It’s not something a princess should care about.”

He didn’t say anything except necessary words. It was rude but it even made Jeon’s heart beat.

“Whoo!”

Haewoon stretched out his left hand wrapped in armor and called the hawk. The hawk, which was spinning in search of its owner, descended in an instant and landed on his arm. Jeon’s mouth opened slightly as she watched him receive the large hawk while sitting on a horse and not waver at all.

When Haewoon opened the small barrel on the hawk's leg, a piece of dried paper came out. Putting the piece of paper on his lips, he pulled out a rucksack from the small pouch that was hanging from his horse and fed it to the hawk’s beak.

[The Emperor has called the Madame to the Imperial Palace.]

The sentence was short but there was a lot of content in it.

Haewoon laughed. Jeon didn't know what was in the letter or what had happened, but for a moment, she had goosebumps. It was a hot desert, there was no reason to feel chilly, but the reason her body felt shivers was probably because the General was in a bad mood. She knew that the news he had received was not very good.

“General.”

"I thought I said it was none of your business."

Haewoon laughed for a short time. The smile on his face felt like it was telling Jeon not to say any word. It was the first time that someone had ever been rude to a country’s princess like herself and her face turned red.

"That's rude."

"I haven't committed any rudeness yet,” Haewoon mouthed slowly, warning in a drowsy voice while facing the princess. “Are you curious about this?”

He handed over the paper that the hawk had brought to the princess.

After reading it, she frowned. Was the rumor true? There were rumors that the infamous General Geummun fell for a woman and played an active part in making peace with Giran-guk for her.

“I am proof of the peace. Is the rumor true, General?”

It's not even a punishment. Why is he so displeased when his wife was called to go to the imperial palace?

“The general’s wife is a woman from Giran-guk… …!”
